Accessibility

In effect from 20 August 2026

What we have done, what we have not done, and how to tell us when the site fails you. This page is deliberately specific rather than reassuring.

1. Our commitment

This platform exists so that people who were shut out of understanding their own money can understand it. A site that a person cannot read or operate fails at exactly that, so accessibility is part of the product rather than an afterthought.

We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA, which is the standard commonly applied to public websites in Canada.

2. What has been done so far

The platform has been built with the following in mind:

  • Text and background colours are chosen for contrast, in both the light and dark appearances, and the appearance can be switched at any time.
  • The site works at phone widths as well as on a laptop, and text can be enlarged by your browser without the layout breaking.
  • Pages are built from real headings, lists and landmarks rather than styled shapes, so a screen reader can move through them in a sensible order.
  • Interactive controls can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and the element you are on is visibly marked.
  • Charts and figures are accompanied by the numbers in text, so the meaning does not depend on seeing the picture.
  • Language is deliberately plain, and financial jargon is explained where it is unavoidable.

3. What has not been done

The platform has not had an independent accessibility audit, and we do not claim full conformance with any standard. Nobody has tested it end to end with assistive technology.

We expect there are problems we have not found. The interactive tools, which show a value changing as you move a control, are the most likely place for them.

4. Tell us where it fails

If any part of the platform is difficult or impossible for you to use, write to support@econcerf.com and describe what happened and what you were trying to do. You do not need to know what caused it or use any particular terminology.

We treat these reports as defects rather than requests, and we will tell you what we found and what we are doing about it.

5. Other formats

If you need any of the material on this site in a different format, ask at support@econcerf.com and we will work out how to provide it.
