What this platform is, what it is not, the terms you agree to by using it, and what happens to your information.

Terms of use

In effect from 20 August 2026

These are the terms you agree to by using the platform. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable, and if any part of them is unclear we would rather rewrite it than rely on it.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and ALM ANALYZED INC., the company that operates EconCERF at econcerf.com. In this document, "we", "us" and "our" mean that company, and "you" means the person using the platform.

By using the platform you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.

2. Who may use the platform

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

The platform is offered to residents of Canada, other than residents of Quebec. It is written around Canadian account types, Canadian tax treatment and Canadian products, and it has not been assessed against the rules of any other jurisdiction.

You may read the free material from anywhere, but you do so on your own initiative, and we make no claim that the platform is appropriate or available for use where you live.

3. Your account

Some parts of the platform are open to anyone. Others require an account, which you create with an email address you control.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping access to your email secure, because access to your email is what allows a password to be reset. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has gained access to your account.

Give us accurate information when you register. Do not create an account in someone else's name, and do not share your account with others.

4. What we provide, and what we do not

We provide educational material, worked examples, interactive tools and a facility to build and save a plan from figures you enter.

We do not provide investment advice, financial advice, tax advice or legal advice. We are not registered as an adviser, dealer or portfolio manager with any securities regulator, we do not manage money, we do not hold assets, and we do not place trades. Nothing on the platform is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any investment, or an offer or solicitation to do so.

The full statement of this is on the page titled "What this is, and what it is not", which forms part of these terms.

5. Decisions you make are yours

You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions and for their outcomes, including decisions to invest, to refrain from investing, to sell, or to wait.

Investing involves risk, including the risk of losing money. Historical figures shown on the platform describe the past and do not predict the future. Any forward-looking figure is an illustration produced by a stated calculation from assumptions you can inspect, and it is not a forecast, a promise, or a probability of any outcome.

Where a decision matters to you, take advice from a professional who is registered to give it and who knows your full circumstances.

6. Acceptable use

When you use the platform, you agree not to:

  • use it for any unlawful purpose, or to breach any securities, tax or consumer protection law
  • present the material as advice, whether yours or ours, to any other person
  • resell, republish or redistribute the courses, tools or other content, or use them to build a competing product
  • copy the content at scale, whether by automated means or otherwise, other than saving your own plan and your own progress for your own use
  • attempt to gain access to accounts, data or systems that are not yours
  • interfere with the operation of the platform, probe it for vulnerabilities, or place unreasonable load on it
  • remove, obscure or alter any notice, attribution or disclosure that appears in the material

We may suspend or end access where we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.

7. The information you enter, and the plan you build

You keep ownership of the information you enter. You give us permission to store and process it so that we can operate the platform and show you your own plan and progress.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with product issuers, fund companies or advisers. How we handle it is set out in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. The platform calculates from the figures you give it, so a figure entered wrongly produces a result that is wrong in the same way.

8. Our content

The courses, written material, tools, calculations, selection standards, design and the platform itself are owned by us or used by us under licence, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may read the material and use the tools for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Everything else requires our written permission.

9. Information from third parties

Some information on the platform comes from third party sources, including market data and published fund information. We select sources with care and we say where a figure comes from, but we do not control those sources and we cannot guarantee that what they publish is accurate, complete or current.

Where the platform links to another website, that site is not ours and we are not responsible for its content or its practices.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the platform available and current, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, and we may add, alter or retire courses, tools and features.

We may correct figures, methodology or content when we find they are wrong, and we would rather correct something than leave it standing.

12. No warranties

The platform and everything on it are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and representations that are not expressly stated in these terms, whether implied by statute, common law or otherwise.

In particular, we do not warrant that the material is complete, that any figure is free from error, or that any result shown will be achieved.

Some laws do not allow certain warranties to be excluded. Where that is the case, this section applies only to the extent the law permits, and nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer protection legislation that applies to you.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any investment loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of data, or any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform or your reliance on anything on it.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the platform is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, and one hundred Canadian dollars.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

14. Your responsibility to us

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the platform, or your presentation of the material to another person as advice.

15. Ending your use

You may stop using the platform at any time, and you may ask us to delete your account and the information held with it. The Privacy Policy explains how to do that and what happens to your information afterwards.

We may suspend or end your access where you have broken these terms, where we are required to by law, or where continuing would expose us or other users to material risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Where a change is material, we will give at least 30 days notice before it takes effect, by email to the address on your account or by a notice on the platform, and the effective date at the top of this page will change.

Continuing to use the platform after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the platform and ask us to close your account.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, subject to any right you have under consumer protection law to bring a claim where you live.

18. How to reach us

Questions about these terms can go to support@econcerf.com. If something here is unclear or reads as though it means more than we intend, we would like to know.
